The National Measurement Institute (Aus) will hold a one-day workshop on emerging lighting technology such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) on 4 May 2016 at its premises in Lindfield.

The workshop aims to initiate a discussion about the opportunities and challenges presented by LED lighting and the importance of measuring its performance reliably.

LEDs can provide Australians with high-quality lighting while reducing energy consumption. Reliable measurements of the performance of LED lighting can help increase consumer confidence in claimed specifications leading to wider-scale adoption.

The workshop will foster the exchange of information and facilitate discussions on best practice measurement techniques, standards and regulations related to solid state lighting. The program includes presentations from industry and government experts, together with a laboratory tour, demonstrations and a round-table discussion.

For more information about the workshop, including the draft program please contact Errol Atkinson (02 8467 3563), email SSL_Workshop@measurement.gov.au or visit NMI’s webpage. Registration, which is free, is also available on the NMI webpage.
