It is with sadness that the MSA Committee notes the passing of Barry Inglis in July 2025. Dr Inglis, the then Director of NML CSIRO, was a strong supporter of the foundation of the MSA. He served on the MSA Management Committee for a number of years, including the position of VP. His backing, including making available NMIA staff over the years, the use of resources such as lecture theatres and meeting rooms, and national and international promotion were instrumental for the recognition of the MSA.
Dr Inglis was awarded an honorary membership in the MSA, went on to become the CEO and Chief Metrologist of NMI Australia and ultimately the President of the International Committee on Weights and Measures (CIPM). He also served on the NATA Board for many years including as Chairman of the Board. Barry will be remembered as a warm and friendly colleague with a deep passion for metrology and for passing on his immense knowledge to others.
